Arenal Volcano is one of the most visited sites in Costa Rica, and not just for its looks. There are thermal springs to soak in, horseback riding tours to take, waterfall rappelling to try, and much more. The high and mighty Arenal volcano is actually the youngest in Costa Rica. Previously believed to be dormant for many years, eruptions began in 1968. Small volcanic activity continued until 2010. Since then there has been no new lava flow.
The park entrance fee is $15 USD per person for a tourist. The trails throughout the park are mild and are abundant with nature and curious jungle inhabitants. Depending on the time of year, it can be a bit rainy! We recommend bringing suitable clothes and an umbrella. Arenal is a cherished and beloved destination in Costa Rica for tourists and residents of the country.
